NATIONAL AWARD PRESENTED TO LOCAL ORGANIZATIONMADISON The Department of Workforce Development presented the national Job Training Partnership Act (JTPA) Performance Award to the North Central Workforce Development Board at the organizations monthly meeting today in Wausau. The JTPA Performance Incentive Awards recognize the workforce development boards who exceed performance goals in areas of job placement, retention and increased earnings for participants. It also recognizes the boards who have achieved exceptional performance in youth services, which are measured by the participants success in getting a job, returning to school or enhancing their education and occupational skills. "This is a tremendous way to recognize the cooperative efforts of our workforce development boards, who are making great inroads in alleviating a worker shortage that exists in Wisconsin," said Secretary Reinert. The Workforce Development Boards have a governing and strategic planning role that cover areas of long range planning, identifying employer workforce needs, and job seeker services and training needs. There are 11 Workforce Development Boards across the state made up of local business, employers, educators, youth service providers, and representatives of Job Center partner agencies. -30- | |||
