Department Launches New Employment-Focused Web SiteMADISONThe Department of Workforce Development (DWD) has launched a new Web site that will enable jobseekers and employers alike to find information more quickly and easier than ever before."Eighty percent of those who log on to the Department of Workforce Development Web site are looking for job related information," said DWD Secretary Linda Stewart. "Because of that, we designed a site that would excel in helping people find employment and helping employers find workers." Stewart mentioned the departments Summer Jobs Web site, a new resource recently launched by the department to bring summer employers and summer job seekers together, as an example of the departments efforts to serve its customers better. At any given time, visitors to the DWD Web site can access more than 18,000 full, part-time or seasonal job listings. The Web site also offers a wide variety of employment programs, labor market information and support programs. On the departments new homepage, under programs, users can find useful information regarding apprenticeship programs, child care, child support, discrimination, employment and training, labor market information, school to work, vocational rehabilitation, Wisconsin Works, workers compensation and much more. "It just made sense during a time that our biggest challenge is finding workers to fill job openings, that we use a tool right under our fingertips to link employers with employees," Stewart said.
