News Media Advisory

Governor Tommy Thompson is expected to talk about the state's W-2 and Partnership for Full Employment programs when he addresses the Governor's Statewide Employment and Training Conference at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 27.

This is the opening session of this three-day event at the Paper Valley Hotel in Appleton.

Between 65-80 employers from the Fox Valley area and the state are expected to attend on Wednesday, a day when programming emphasizes programs and services for, and the involvement of, employers. Some of the sessions will focus on labor shortages and ways employers can find the workers they need.

About 1,000 individuals from the employment and training field will attend the conference.

A copy of the conference program will be available at the conference, as will be a list of those employers who will receive Partnership Awards for Exemplary Employers at a 12:45 p.m. May 27 presentation at the conference.

Reporters also may obtain both documents in advance of the conference by contacting the DWD News Service office at the location shown below. The award nomination criteria also are available upon request from this office.

All portions of the conference are open to the news media.
