[Question]

Can the consumer select an out-of-state provider of services?

[Opinion of DVR Policy Analyst]

Yes, if he/she is willing to pay the additional costs associated with his/her selection. If there is a local source which is less expensive but adequate to achieve the quality necessary to achieve the IPE individualized plan for employment vocational objective, then that sets a limit on the amount DVR can pay toward the service.

DVR Policy states: In all purchasing, the consumer may choose his or her preferred vendor. In making this selection, if the consumer chooses a product or vendor that exceeds the maximum rate of payment established by the above procedures, the consumer will be responsible for the excess amount unless an exception has been granted.
